New Executive Committee Members
I have been Involved in media education for over 18 years. In this time I have taught media in a number of schools in Auckland, including running various media departments, facilitating education programmes and workshops for teachers, and roles within NZQA. I have been involved in NAME throughout this time, both at a regional level for Auckland, and nationally on the Executive. I’ve also continued upskilling though post graduate study. All of these experiences put me in an ideal position to be president.
I want to continue to help NAME fulfil its roles in being a supportive body for its members; an advocate on behalf of media teachers, and a means of communicating information and building collegiality.
I am passionate about media education and believe a strong subject association is as important now as it has ever been. When I started teaching NAME gave me support and guidance. I like to thing now is my opportunity to give back.
I have been teaching Media Studies since 2007, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. I am currently teaching Media Studies at Northcote College on Auckland's North Shore. In the last few years I have been involved in the NAME Auckland committee, in particular as one of the organisers of the 2015 Auckland Media conference. I love teaching Media Studies and really value the skills, both practical and analytical, that the subject gives students. I am really keen to keep developing the profile of the subject through my involvement in the NAME executive committee.
